   Exercising is beneficial for health.  You can do it at home or in the gym!


    With todays busy lifestyles, few adults with families can afford the time to regularly go to the local health club or gym.  Heck, even though it's a short distance away, we're talking about committing several hours per session.  Who has time for that !?




     Still, we all agree that exercise is just good for you.  If you randomly name 10 medical conditions and diseases, I'm willing to bet that some form of frequent exercise is a good treatment or preventative measure for at least nine of them.  Diet and exercise are emerging as treatments and preventative measures in so many ailments that plague us today, and these two areas are a good place to focus if you're concerned about your health.  Even a simple walk for exercise can greatly improve your health.  Walking for exercise is fun, easy, and stress-relieving, but you'll find out more in a minute.


     Another idea is home gym equipment.  Now we are not talking about enough equipment to fill the basement or several rooms.  What you want is something that you enjoy and that can be done in the privacy of your home whenever you want.  My son, who works on his muscle tone, has a weight training program with 1 piece of equipment.  The woman enjoys the aerobic action of a small trampoline and a treadmill.  The idea of ​​home gym equipment doesn't have to be a daunting endeavor, just something that will save you hours and allow the exercise program you desire straight from your own home.  However, another great workout is just walking!



     The advantage of walking for exercise is that you can do it anywhere.  You have absolutely no excuse not to get up and walk around for at least 30 minutes a day.  So it's raining?  Take an umbrella!  Seriously, go out a few times for a short walk around the block and you'll thank yourself for it later.  If it's really miserable, it's better to walk around your house or apartment for a bit.


     Walking for exercise has an extremely low impact, and therefore anyone of any age can do it safely and frequently without worrying about self-harm.  Running and other more intense forms of exercise can cause all kinds of joint pain, and they are only recommended if you are in good shape.


     Many recent studies of different forms of exercise show that walking is just as good for you as running or any other more vigorous exercise, you just need to do it for longer.  If you walk for exercise, do at least 30 minutes or even an hour.  The more, the better, because you can't hurt yourself by walking too much.


     There are many exercise programs that are beginning to realize the benefits of walking for exercise.  Since virtually anyone can walk, there is a huge target market for walking programs.  I would recommend any program that motivates you to walk frequently.  Even without one, there are hiking and walking clubs everywhere to join.  Walking for exercise can not only be a way to stay healthy, but also a good way to meet new people and form new networks.


     With so many benefits and hardly any downsides, you can't go wrong walking for exercise.  Its only downside is that it takes time, but it's time well spent.  What is the value of good health and longevity?  Add on some favorite gym equipment and you will have everything you need to develop a healthy workout and exercise program without worrying about going to the gym all the time.
